Come to a First Reading (with music and song) of a new musical, Blues is the Root, The Willie Dixon Story, written by Prof. Emeritus (and Yale Club Co-President) Charles Dumas, with a talk-back afterwards!

William James Dixon (1915 –1992) is considered one of the key figures in the creation of Chicago blues and an important early influence on Rock and Roll. A prodigious songwriter and bass player, he worked with Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Otis Rush, Bo Diddley, and many others. His songs have been covered by Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Cream, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones. This is his story told through his music.
